They claim to value public input, but at the same time reassure each other that a democratic internet should be no real worry-- asserting the role of leadership, even when decisions are unpopular and the public lashes out. Gordon Brown counters somewhat-- purpoting that leaders should 'have the debate' and make their views clear, but still act upon them rather than 'walking into a room and telling people back what they want to hear.' Brown also expresses frustration over having to be "on the defensive" over globalizaton, inability secure free trade agreements and hopes people will come around on the 'wisdom' of the Iraq war.
