His "interludes" sound like Erza Pound quotes.

Text by George S. Kaufman--enough said--probably the most brilliant dialogue of all the Marx's movies.

Nothing like the Marx Brothers had ever come along. It was so zany and anti-establishment, nobody had seen anything like it.

Warner Brothers did many direct takes on famous people, with names spelled slightly different. "Jack Bunny" comes to mind.

Bugs Bunny totally ripped off that "I shot her a glance" line...not to mention countless other Groucho lines :)

This clip is 77 years old and it's still as fresh and funny as it was when it was released in the movie Animal Crackers. Groucho and his brothers are still the real kings of comedy!

He's making fun of Eugene O'Neill's play, "Strage Interlude," a Pulitzer Prize-winning play in which the cast turns to the audience and speaks lines revealing their TRUE thoughts, despite what they're saying to the other actors on stage. Soem critics thought it was brilliant. Others thought it was just plain silly. (I'm thinking that Groucho falls in the latter camp.)
