Agreed. Strummer is grinning in his grave at this one. What an excellent update of the concerns expressed on "Straight To Hell" -- our Foreign Policy come home to roost: "The Volatile Molotov says..." is now how "we're going to hell just pumping that gas"...nutritious food for thought: how our Domestic Habit 'fuels' 3rd world unrest and exacerbates inequality.

I'm white and this isn't my favorite song. But it is good. And all politics aside MIA is an artist and we should just appreciate her work for what it is; art.

I must completely disagree here. The separations of art and politics is a travesty, and has lead art down a path of deep irrelevance and impotence. Aesthetics and politics absolutely need to be reintigrated. We must politicize aesthetics. That is, inject political content into aesthetics in order to spur dialectical conversation, movement, and progress.

Absolutely. Given we love in nothing like a utopia,it is a disgrace so many artists take the easy option and write love songs. More M.I.A style honesty is needed.
